Why we are doing what we are doing

Manufactured Home Communities used to be a really affordable option for younger people who were tired of apartment life, or seniors, the disabled and others who wanted to own a good home, in a good neighborhood, at an affordable cost.

Private Equity has been changing that. They see the privately owned communities as potential cash cows. When the man who built my development, for example, decided to retire, he sold it to a management company. They then sold to a larger private equity company who started to really turn the screws. There is a pattern where these companies squeeze as much out of the owners as they can and then sell off to someone else.

This is happening to us, and we are, in the words of Howard Beale “We’re mad as hell, and we’re not taking it anymore!”
